Operator vs Flyer in Europe

I just logged into my Alpha Tango account and my profile shows:

Native country: UNITED KINGDOM

Nationality: UNITED KINGDOM

United Kingdom is in the list:

Do you have it in French perhaps? That might cause it to show as Grande-Bretagne or something like that?

If you have the language set to French it shows as royaume-uni.

That must be what is causing your issue.

Just press the little Union Flag logo in the bottom right of the screen to change to English.

Hi Simon, thanks for the advice, I just passed the 40 questions also, with the same certificate downloaded. The French Flyer ID. Well happy !!! Can I fly now in Greece in October, or do I need an Op ID from that French link?

Did you register on the French link as an operator? Spain or Greece is my places of interest. Just passed my Flyer ID for France, do I need to register an Op ID even if I don’t intent travelling there? Price?

You need Operator ID, Flyer ID (for drones heavier than 250g) and you need to register your drone, all done on alphatango site. If you have all these, than you can fly anywhere in European Union member states. It is free of charge.

I got a Mavic Mini 3 pro, 249g, so I guess I don’t need the OP ID also? I just did the Flyer ID completed and passed.

You definitely need an Operator ID.

Register on the Alpha Tango website to get one.

Flyer ID is only required for drones with a mass of more than 250g. You already have that.

OK, thank you. Will have a look now.

If I want to fly in Greece will this French Flyer ID be enough? It’s all getting confusing?

The answer to your question is yes.

To fly in an EU country, you need an EU Operator ID.

Greece is an EU country. France is an EU country.

Therefore, if you get an EU Operator ID issued in France, you can fly in Greece.

Have you got a direct link to it, I’m lost on that French page looking for the Operator ID section?

It’s very easy.

  1. Log in to your Alpha Tango account (which you created to do your Flyer ID).

The URL is: https://alphatango.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/

  1. Under the heading ‘UAS Operator’ press the ‘Register’ button.

Yes, I did all that, and at the bottom in the orange section, this comes up…Country of registration
UNITED KINGDOM

  • or first Member State in which the operator intends to operate, in the case of an operator established or resident in a third country.
To register as a UAS operator in France, the country of residence must be France or, in the case of an operator resident in a third country, France must be the first Member State in which the operator intends to operate.

So is that it, all complete? That last sentence, saying France must be the first member state in which to operate? That’s the bit that confused me?

Yes - all sorted.

You have an EU Operator ID, and an EU Flyer ID, so you can now fly in any EU country.

Don’t forget to display your EU Operator ID on your drone when flying in Europe.

Happy flying!

The Status says Not Registered? Does that matter? Also in the options or Simon Kear section id says one course completed. Ain’t their no accreditation, or print out for an Op ID ? Do they confirm the Op ID via email or similar?

Are you saying that you haven’t actually received your EU Operator ID?

I.e. you havent had an email with it in, and it doesn’t show in your Alpha Tango account?

If that’s the case then I would suggest it didnt work.

On the other hand, if you have an EU Operator ID and an EU Flyer ID then you’re good to go.

Nope, no email with the Op ID, and it don’t show in my account either.

Then I would suggest you didn’t successfully register with them.

Does the payment show on your bank statement?

I would suggest you probably need to try again. Or contact them.

I’ll message them, no money taken. How much is it anyway?
