In the configurator, select the correct radio and the 868/900MHz selections should appear at the bottom. At least it does for my nomad and XR4.
That’s great information. Thanks @jpmreece
Hopefully it’s helpful!
Guys, @SimonDale @jpmreece @GVG_Air
I need a quick sanity check! every time I get something to work on my new build FPV mentioned and pictured above, something else brakes! Please note: This is my first foray into FPV so be gentle with me.
Questions
1 - Does the RC Controller connect to the goggles or direct to the Drone?
2 - Which channels are we allowed to use for Drone>Goggles RX/TX? Mine connects to a channel that is NOT the one configured in the settings…
3 - I’ve just added a GPS module which the FC does not even ‘See’ I’m going to have another look and check all the soldering to added wires, I’ll reflow where necessary. I’ve opened a port on the ports page, enabled GPS on the GPS page and restarted the drone. Nothing!
4 - I’m sure there’ll be a number four, but can we start with the three above please?
TIA
It’s been a while, so I may be out of date, but here goes:
In a traditional analogue system your radio Tx connects to your radio Rx, which is connected to your flight controller in the drone.
If you’re using DJI goggles this may be different. (My Avata 2 controller connects to my Goggles).
2.4 GHz 10mW and 5.8 GHz 25mW analogue. 100mW on the same frequencies if it is digital.
Morning Simon and thanks for the reply…
In answer to your questions:
EV800D FPV True Diversity FPV Goggles w/ DVR – Unmanned Tech
Only a cheap one, also has DVR, as I’m not going to be using them much due to lack of an observer, brought mainly to help in the setup. I think it’s analogue
thanks again
Those look like 5.8 GHz analogue goggles. Therefore, your camera connects to your 5.8 GHz VTx in the aircraft, and your ELRS Rx connects to your FC in your aircraft.
OK thanks for the clarification mate, I’m busy this morning, so will look at the other bits later…
Thanks again Simon!
With GPS, the tx line goes to Rx and the Rx to tx. It’s a serial system.
If your GPS has a compass as well, you’ll need to connect the i2c as well
Bugger! that’ll be it, I’ve done tx-tx & rx-rx - I2C connected wrong too!
Thanks JP! I’ll correct and get back to you
Glad to be of service!
How is the build coming on? Have you managed to get it in the air yet?
corrected wires, i2c was correct, connected to SCL
rebooting and awaiting GPS signal lock
Excellent!
It recognises the GPS then? Winner!
GPS lock may take a while the first time.
GPS will take less time outside. I don’t get a lock on my desk!
the GPS switch stays on within betaflight app, so far so good!
I’m outside have been for 10 minutes now and still nothing. Does this GPS require an antenna? I can’t find a connection for one…
Finding link not a link but the modelBeitian BN-880 GPS & Compass Module × 1
It should be built on. What does the GPS tab in beta flight say?
Is the antenna flashing the sky? What part is it?
Beitian BN-880 GPS & Compass Module × 1
The connector should be on the bottom side
