13" carbon fibre drone frames

Wouldn’t think of anything else, with small props, let alone 10/5 3 blade beasty things

But thanks for the reminder

Got the VTX working, nothing to display it on yet, so disabled it for now…

I was all set for the first test flight, then I realised I’m still waiting for the battery! Which is a rather large spanner in the works! Have to try when the Battery finally arrives.

I doubt it will be plain sailing or should I say flying? from here on, I’m about to order a GPS unit for it, more fun! I’ll try for some pictures as I can’t fly yet…

Cool, I’m making progress with the 8. GPS issues at the moment…

This is the 11" frame I call ‘The Beast’ it’s attached to a 3-30v/10amp bench power supply. While the PSU doesn’t provide as much power as the battery will, it does allow for setup and testing! Props not fitted yet!

I’m using a RM TX15 MAX 2.4G/915Mhz for TX

Show us yours…

What other settings can I setup while I await the battery? I think there will be some ‘Tweaks’ one the maiden test flight is completed, what can I do before that?

TX connected and responding
VTX active and working
Motors Arming on command
All navigational controls responding (T,A,R,E) not in that order

Awaiting
Battery
GPS Module
Landing Legs
FPV Goggles

Not fitted Props yet as testing thus far has been on the bench.

Any suggestions of what to setup in advance of the awaited list arriving?

She flies!

I’d get 3D printing parts

Only one problem there, I don’t have a 3D printer. Never really wanted one either…

What parts do I need that you’re referring to?

Congrats BTW, nice build!

Latest build:
GPS mount
VTX antenna mount
2x elrs antenna mount
Legs
Battery holder for 2 X 1500mah packs
Elrs reciever holder
Optical flow mount

All of the TPU parts on all my quads are my own designs.

Alternative options:
Hover test
Simulator time
Post here!

I’ve commented each line:

GPS mount - Good Idea, one is ordered, don’t know the size (I haven’t noted it actually)
VTX antenna mount - Has one
2x elrs antenna mount - Has two
Legs - On order
Battery holder for 2 X 1500mah packs - 1 x 12000mAh/70C/22.2V on way (yes 12 amps, weight = 1545g)
Elrs reciever holder - Has one
Optical flow mount - Not thought of that yet, will be on the upgrade list

I’ll try to get some pictures to show the electronics, even if I have to take the lid off…

Pictures as mentioned…

Battery seat on top

Camera, basic version, may be upgraded

Two antenna - 915Mhz & 5.8Ghz

VTX & nano RC TX/RX units

I think I’ve identified them correctly, I’m sure someone will correct me if not…

All very compact!

Very nice Steve!

What’s the 915 MHz antenna for?

Thanks @SimonDale

915 Antenna = RC TX, via the RM TX15 MAX

Oh right. How interesting.

I didn’t realise that was being used in the UK. (It is not one of the allowed frequencies.)

It takes me back. About 13 years ago, when I ran an FPV shop, I got ImmersionRC to do a special UK firmware for their EzUHF so that it operates on 459 MHz (as against 433 MHz elsewhere), so that it complies with the UK rules.

Thanks @SimonDale I’m going to have to look at this in the morning. Maybe a replacement RC TX/RX module will be required…

It looks like your radio/ELRS will happily work on 2.4 GHz instead?

If so, it’s just an antenna swap.

Or flash the 868 version of elrs firmware. It’s pretty straightforward to do and keeps the long range link.

Can I check which version of firmware it’s using to confirm?
Before flashing

There is one, brilliant!
