Hi Trev
That looks good.
The UK is no longer part of the EU, so nothing from the UK CAA is recognised in the EU.
You need to register (which gives you an Operator ID), and you need to do a competency test (which gives you a Flyer ID).
It sounds like you’ve done the first part.
Hi Trev
It sounds like you now have a European Operator ID and a Flyer ID. If you display the Operator ID on your drone you should be good to go.
It would be worth reading up on Cyprus - to see if there is anything specific to know about it.
For example, I believe the island has a Turkish part, and a Greek part. Greece is in the EU, Turkey is not. So you may be better flying your drone in the Greek part only.
I’m not an expert on Cyprus though - you should read up on it.

Confused, not sure if I now have to register in Cyprus & pay €15?
I’m visiting the Greek Cypriot part, Limassol.
I’ve messaged them explaining I’ve done the exam plus registered under EU on France web site, not heard back yet.
Will let members know the resultant reply if I get one.

Hi Trev
You’re already registered in the EU and you have an EU Operator ID.
You don’t need another one.
That’s the beauty of the EU, if you’re registered in one, it applies across all of the others.
Cyprus drone team got back to me, for everyone’s interest, yes French registration & exam valid in the Greek Cypriot area.
Not going north or near the Turkish area so not asked about their area & legality.
Thanks Simon for your help.
Just one more question, are you able, in the drone store able to print the French stickers for displaying on the drones as flyer ID?
That’s good.
Our system prints the stickers from the Flyer ID on your FPV UK account. Unfortunately we don’t presently have an option to print stickers for other countries.
Just a note of thanks to all to who contributed to this thread, this morning, did my exam, ID No etc, all via the Alpha Tango site, very easy and straight forward, even for this ‘new guy’ much appreciated. Regards Mark
Hi Guys, Just did my flyer exam via the Luxembourg EASA and it’s FREE) most other countries appear to charge. It is a requirement to have a EASA licence to legally fly in EU. UK licence will not be acceptable following Brexit (Thank you Nigel. Apparently some EU countries also require Insurance, available when joining FPVUK.ORG
Hi Newbie here
Following this thread I have just taken the exam on the AlphaTango site but don’t see any sort of certificate from it. I got a 98% mark - do I need to retake and get 100% or am I missing something ?
Thanks in advance
UPDATE
Certificate still not available but I have received an email with an operator number which I have put on my drone.
So I now have UK Flyer and Operator and French Operator numbers - do I also need a French Flyer registration/anything else ?
If you did an exam on the Alpha Tango website then you must have a Flyer ID. Like the UK, it is only the Flyer ID that has a test associated with it.
If you have a drone with a mass of more than 250g, you do need a Flyer ID.
All the best
Simon
Thanks Simon - I have found it now
@SimonDale I just registered for and got the Operator ID for France.
As the text says “Your first country of operation must be France…” and I will be travelling first to Spain, will they or can they verify that you haven’t used your drone in France first?
No, they have no way of knowing that you didn’t operate in France first. I bet you will travel through France (or at least its airspace) to get to Spain.
@SimonDale Hi Simon, need your help here again. Having just passed the A1/A3 test with “Flying colours”, I have downloaded my certificate only to realise that they have my First and Last names the wrong way round. And I can’t seem to Edit these in my Profile area.
Is there someone I can contact at AlphaTango to get these changed and reissue the certificate do you think?
How’s your French?
I’ve no idea how responsive or not they are.
If I was you I’d probably just do it again with my names the right away around.
My french is dismal When I created the AlphaTango account it asked for Birth name, so I put Shazzad, it asked for Lastname, I put Miah.
I guess the french have a different notion of what “birth name” is.
It seems the certificate creation take my name from the Account details - and I cannot change those any more (they appear disabled).
There doesn’t appear anyway to contact them either by email or online support form.
Bit stuck now and unsure of what to do.

Do you mean create a New account?
