Hi Everyone. Just introducing myself

Hey folks :waving_hand:t2: New member and absolute noob when it comes to drones.

Bought a Neo back in June and quickly became addicted. Only flown a few times in my local area of Calderdale before I started to get a few other bits. 2 months later I also now own a Mini 4 Pro and an Avata 2 with both head sets and both controllers. I also have the RC-N3 and RC2 controllers. Unfortunately limited with distances due to not being able to drive (disabled) so finding suitable places to fly has been a bit of a bark but looking forward to venturing further afield and finding more places to explore and enjoy. Here’s a pic I took with the mini 4 Pro of a lovely cottage and waterways near to where I live

Yeah it’s a great hobby.. Just wish flying them was a little easier. They seem to attract Karens/Kens like nothing else :joy: everybody seems to think they’re illegal.. Iv ended up printing out a copy of the drone code to take with me :joy:

That’s interesting.

Have you seen our FPV UK Hi-Viz armbands? They let you carry your membership card on your arm and people tell us they stop these types of interactions in their tracks/stop them happening at all.

Iv actually just bought one.. Not had the chance to go out with it on as yet although to be fair Iv actually put my card into the lanyard which came with it. Hopefully will stop or atleast decrease the negative reactions. The funny thing is I actually started this hobby to help with mental health issues (severe anxiety) and to get me out more. It’s kinda had the opposite effect. Although to be fair I have had some good interactions too.. One older chap I met suggested I should go to Ukraine.. I politely declined :joy:

Superb picture, I come originally from Halifax. Live in Cambridgeshire now. Perhaps you could give me a bit more detail where the pic is please?

Yeah no worries.. It’s down the canal in Brighouse.. Called Granny lock.. I travel down that way to get to Halifax from Brighouse as it’s a more pleasant ride than going Shibden Hall way.. Iv tried flying my drone there a few times but when the weather is nice it just gets so busy that it’s not worth the hassle..

I’ll admit this is my first time commenting so I hope this works. If this has worked then welcome welcome jayster.

I have to admit I am just a little jealous of the drones you have, but I must say you have picked well . The avata is an absolute blast (especially when flying in manual mode).

I don’t reply to anyone on here but I was just reading a drone hub update email and spotted your post and knew I had to commend your choice on drones and say a huge welcome from the community.

I hope you enjoy your little eyes in the sky as much as we all do.:+1:t2:

Dear Jayster,

I just wondered what kind od disability you have, the reason i ask is because i have a paralized left arm after an ice climbing accident, how do you use your drones, i have bought the Avata 2 as it’s the only drone i can use with one arm, i have both controls for it, but i only use the gimbal controls & i’m just wondering how you fair with your controls. Thank you in advance.

Well I shall consider this an honour good sir.. Thankyou  must admit Iv not done much with the Avata 2 yet.. I did download an FPV simulator and hook up the FPV controller but Iv not had much success with it yet.. Let’s just say I’m not brave enough to put my drones into manual mode just yet.. I don’t wanna end up killing somebody  but the acro mode with the motion controller is pretty fun and gets you used to the whole wearing goggles thing..

Hey there.. That sounds kinda painful :grimacing: so I was born with a genetic disorder called EDS or Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. For me it means that I don’t produce collagen correctly and that leads to all manner of issues such as constant joint dislocations, bone fractures, as well as organ and circulatory issues. Best way to think of it is anything in the body that needs elasticity well my body doesn’t do that very well, so cartiledge is squishy, veins and arteries stretchy, skin which tears easily etc etc.. So issues can manifest in a wonderful and delightful array each and every day.. As for how it affects my drone flying.. mainly it’s 2 fold.. I have issues standing for long periods so really I have to be sat down to fly and even then it’s not too long before I get backache (5 fractured vertebrae) and then with the actual controllers I will sometimes get dislocations in my fingers and wrists. Fortunately I’m well versed in snapping joints back into place and it’s not as painful for me as it would be for normal folk. But we all have things to overcome in life and flying drones has given me a reason to get up and go out..

Wish you all the best with your flying adventures good sir

Yours sounds a bit sore, i must admit i have chronic nerve pain 24/7 because of my i jury, it is called a Brachial Plexus Injury, where all the nerves to my arm & left Diaphragm were pulled out the spinal column, my left lung doesn’t work anymore, so e erything is harder when i go in the hills. Looks like we are both fighters, my accident happened 26 years ago, a month before my son was born. You should have seen me changing nappies with one hand. Messy :joy::joy::joy:

I agree 100%, going into manual mode is scary. I remember the first time I did it was at my work in a sports hall (I’ll admit this was not a good idea). And I was just scared the whole time so I went back to normal and sport mode. But then later on when I tried again I did it in the sports hall yet again (another mistake on my part😬) and ended up just flat out crashing it into the hard wood floor, however I’d say this worked in my favour since it got rid of my fear of crashing. I’ve been flying exclusively manual mode for about 3 months now and I’m still terrified when flying around people because it’s a serious bit of kit and can really do some damage but I will say using manual mode is like being an eagle in the sky and is super freeing and fun.

I have to say though the motion controller and easy acro is really fun. Like a lot of people online criticise the motion controller but I think it’s a great little thing and good fun and in some situations easier and more confidence inspiring than the full controller.

Apologies for any messages I send not being in an easy to read manner, I just type what my mind thinks in the moment which changes very quickly🤣.
