Hello all new to drones

Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself, I’m Dave from Haywards Heath and am new to drones I’ve purchased the DJI mini 5 pro fly more plus combo whilst on holiday in Dubai. I understand it will not be sub 250g but looking forward to getting the required certification to be able to use this in the uk and Europe.

If anyone is local and willing to show me the ropes I’d be very grateful.

Looking forward to being part of the community
Dave

I’ve also been in contact with DJI the plus battery version is not able to be used in the uk so I’ve managed to exchange the batteries for the standard ones so will now be C0 again

Hi Dave and welcome :waving_hand:

From 1st Jan 2026 drones are flown by class and not by weight (unless they are legacy drones) so your Mini 5 pro is a C0 class and can by flown as the old 250g drones. Defiantly worth going a checking the CAA website for the new 2026 rules.

Thank you for the information I’ll read into that, sorry I’m completely new to drones but have now done quite a bit of theoretical training and exams the past 2 nights. So have had a bit of information overload.

Looking forward to getting back to the UK and actually flying the drone.

Welcome. Fairly new myself but loving the flying. Mini 4pro. Just wish this weather would improve so I can get out more. Enjoy.
