Drone Meet 2025

Hi, I would be interested in going I can hire a Motorhome that I use several times a year if I can get some solid dates. I can also bring my Bluettii 2400W sogen along with it’s expansion batteries which would give us 8Kwh of power. Also, If the Farmer permits it I have a Dual fuel Generator I would be happy to bring too to give us all power. I have an external 240v socket we could set up a table under the awning for charging etc and I would hook the motorhome up and charge the Bluetti when needed.

I have a 5L hot water dispenser for refreshments when needed.

@pcoventry, Wow you’ve more or less offered everything needed for a weekend camping and flying, thanks for the generous offer

As for the dates, we’d be looking at between last week Late May to early July but it’s not written in stone.

What we need is a show of hands well before hand to determine numbers and preferred month, I believe the 2nd week in June has a booking already.

We could set a a poll around May 2025…

I personally am free most weekends. It’s okay I just thought that a Motorhome on site might help - Obviously I can’t share it for anything but the above but happy to help where I can. Should the generator be okay and people want to chip in some fuel that would be appreciated but if not I will bring enough for the weekend. Even better if the Farmer is willing to throw in a 240v socket I can power the whole thing with a rather long extension lead and of course cover the cost of that. - either way we will have power.

Talk about it nearer the time in more details for sure - but I am 100% happy to come and when we have the dates I can book the Motorhome.

Motorhome, caravan and tents are all welcome, there’s no size restrictions, closer to the time I’ll post a site map off goggle. hopefully others may chip in later in the year but essentially you have to bring all the kit with you as the farm though licensed for camping can only provide facilities for waste water (loo) disposal and clean drinking water.

That’s fine. That’s all I need - Like I said I hope the farmer is not bothered about the generator - kind of stuck otherwise especially if there are loads of us!

Not at all as long as it’s safe to use, all camping gear is allowed, he also allows an evening bonfire too and has a designated area for one…

I am new to the drone world but I would be definitely up for that. Good to meet other flyers and hear their experiences / advise.

It will be  We will have a lot of Batteries to charge so I will source a rather large USB-C bank and some multi power adapters.

I’d be up for this as well. My EV has a couple of 65w USB-C ports and a couple of 12v sockets and a pretty big battery  so as long as I charge it nearby before arrival, I should be good to help out with charging too.

Good call!. I think we need someone with a Ioniq 5 too - so we can use the whole battery as a power source - anyone?

I had to come up with a way of charging my FPV drone while out and about and to that end I ended up designing this charging station. I used to connect it to the car battery via a pure sinewave inverter, I then bought a small petrol Generator which also works great, hopefully I’ll get a power bank at some point.

I’ve also done a similar stand for the Avata.

I was considering some think like this. But unless you do a lot of flying don’t think it’s worth it. I just got extra batteries.

It comes in handy during an entire days flying, I have six batteries, I was running out of batteries too quickly. It’s good for charging on the way to the next site too…

I got a hard case with 6 battery lots. Managed to get some cheap used Air 3 batteries so I now have 6. Also I can get about 2 battery charges out of that Anker Power bank with the stand. Not sure why but it’s 100% NOT 27500mah.

So do we have a date set yet? I need to book Polly the Moho

Not as yet but I’ll be asking for May to September excluding the weekend of June 6 -June 8 as it’s already booked.

To make a success of this could we have some volunteers please…

Open for discussion we’ll need the following coordinators…

Safety
Fire
Flight line
Camping Area
Other

This is the site…

This actually is not a bad idea. Would be cool to meet other drone pilots.

By the way, I’m new here but not new to drones. Mainly do nature photography and some videos for youtube. Would like to do some work with my drone. If anyone can recommend where to start. I am insured as well if that helps.

Definitely interested as I live 12 miles from there, so could drive daily or bring my caravan and dog along?
Is there a date set?

No need to drive daily as we can camp over the weekend, tents and caravans are welcome, the farm is registered for events and camping. The site has drinking water and also includes wet waste and a large waste bin point.

Dogs are welcome but must always be on a leash, it’s a working farm and may have sheep in adjoining fields…

Please bring the Caravan. I will be looking like a right knob if it’s just the Motorhome I am bringing there lol
