Drone Assist is fully functional today I just submitted a flight plan
The CAA said that that will be the case ('the CAA are aware that, when using Altitude Angelâs services to request permission to fly within a Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ), incorrect notifications may be receivedâ)
Your response does say âApproval Status: No serviceâ.
Agreed but approval was not actually needed because I was nowhere near the FRZ.
I think the gist of the CAA message is âWe are aware that Altitude Angel is now like the Mary Celeste. Thereâs nobody there! Pressing buttons and sending requests may trigger it to send out weird and wonderful responses. You should ignore them, they are essentially meaningless and invalidâ.
That is my reading of it anyhow.
I agree, the servers are working but not being updated because the staff are.no longer there. They will be sadly missed. Letâs hope someone takes over this valuable resource. I really canât live without it.
Agreed. Drone Assist and Drone Safety Map are excellent.
We are working on new features and overlays to the FPV UK map as fast as we can as a stopgap / alternative.
So went on Altitude Angel website yesterday and the administration notice has gone. Companies house has quite a bit of activity with a name change etc. today. Hopefully bits of the business have been carved out.
Great news! Hopefully that means that theyâre out of administration.
When I access the Operator Portal it still shows the following message:
Approval Services Are Temporarily Suspended
Unfortunately, Approval Services have been temporarily withdrawn. If you need to request access to operate at a UTM Ready facility, you will need to contact the facility owner directly. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes and ask that you contact the facility directly for further information.
I imagine it will take some time to find out what will remain and what wonât and what has been split out. I think maybe a lot of intellectual property rights have been split. I am lucky not to really have to submit but find it so much easier to quick check NOTAMs, thank goodness that carried on throughout.
Please check out thedronemap.com from FPV UK.
