So, there I was sitting in the sun in my garden. I thought, nice day, i’ve got a bit of spare time. i’ll have play with the drone. long story short, I crashed it into the side of the house. One motor is damaged. the metal casing has dented and prevents the windings from rotating correctly. Obvs. its a motor replacement job. The question is - do I have to replace more than one motor or should i do two. I see there are all sorts of motors available from cheap to ridiculous. I assume they have different weights. Any general advice or tips welcome. Thanks

Sounds like a straightforward motor replacement.
In most cases you can replace just the damaged motor, provided you use the exact same model (KV rating, size and weight) as the original. There’s no requirement to replace two motors unless the manufacturer specifies it or the remaining motor on that arm shows signs of damage or excessive wear.
Avoid mixing different motor types or weights, as this can affect balance and flight performance. Cheap motors often have poorer bearings and shorter lifespan, so it’s usually worth sticking with an OEM or a reputable aftermarket equivalent rather than the lowest-cost option.
Once fitted, recalibrate the ESCs and do a short hover test before flying normally.
Hope this helps. ![]()
