Wiltshire Mini 5 Pro

Finally clicked the order button and taken delivery of DJI Mini 5 Pro.
Started my A2 C of C, got FPV UK membership and my CAA operator & flyer IDs…
Batteries charging and hopefully I will get to have a play tomorrow and not cause too much damage to me or the drone

@farmerdan Hello and welcome to drone Hub :waving_hand:
The Mini 5pro is a fantastic piece of kit and you won’t be disappointed with your purchase :+1:

Have you managed to check out TheDroneMap.com this will explain where you can and most importantly where you are not permitted to fly your fancy shining new drone.
Have you owned a drone before? The reason i ask is that it’s really important to just practice first and get used to the controls with the movements of the drone.

A few tips are when starting out first time practicing with your drone is always fly in cine mode to practice with as this puts the drone in a less responsive way of controlling it.
Also make sure that in your settings on your controller that you have Obstacle avoidance on this will stop your drone crashing into anything and also have it set too bypass.
Its also important that you dont put the drone in S which is on the controller this turns of all your safety features on your drone and you’ll likely or could crash your drone.

I hope the weather is kind for your first experience with your new drone and enjoy :+1:

Hi @DroneDad,
Thanks for you message. Given where I live in Wiltshire I have to study the map quite a lot. It’s covered in yellow circles, with patches of blue and purple. All punctuated with a massive red patch for Salisbury Plain Firing Range with a few smaller ones sprinkled around.

The range was obvious, but I didn’t realise so many poor farmers around here had airstrips. (And no it’s not that they all think they are Clarkson and have fleets of drones doing all the work).

My interpretation of the yellow zones is use common sense - I can fly but be alert. Is that fair?

@farmerdan Hi :waving_hand:
Yes fly with caution in yellow zones as sometimes there can be hazards.

Red FRZ Zones are a no fly area’s like you mentioned in your message the Salisbury plain live firing range.

Blue areas in a flight path or drone mapping application most commonly indicate a planned drone flight by another operator, an Authorization Zone that requires a digital unlock, or an upcoming temporary flight restriction (NOTAM)

Some useful tips their as I’m new to drones & the one you have is on my list to probably buy. Thanks again

Andy
