Since becoming a new drone pilot i am wracking up a ridiculous amount of media files that need to be stored securely and backed up. Luckily I have a nice juicy new MacBook pro to store the files locally and to weed out the ones I don’t want to save.
But local storage is limited and risky, ideally I would like to store the files online somewhere to make them accessible and to ensure they are backed up.
I know I can use Google Drive or Dropbox but I wondered if anyone had any other top tips, services that cater for high definition media files that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Apple provides users with iCloud backup/storage, and 50Gb is only 99p I forget how much is free…
I have a 10Tb external HDD, yep a good old fashioned HDD! whichI keep in an old fire safe and in a secure location. works for me, It wasn’t cheap, but it’s a once only cost. I didn’t want an ever increasing online storage solution…
@rustyB If you’re on a MacBook Pro, I’d seriously consider iCloud+ if you’re already in the Apple ecosystem. It syncs seamlessly and works really well for photos and videos.
For drone footage specifically, I use the 3-2-1 backup rule: keep the files on your Mac, back them up to an external SSD (Samsung T7s are brilliant), and then have a cloud copy as well. That way, if a drive fails or the laptop gets lost, you’ve still got two other copies.
If you’re after good value cloud storage, Backblaze B2, Microsoft OneDrive (Microsoft 365) or pCloud are all worth a look. If you’ve got a large media library, a Synology NAS is another excellent long-term investment.

I don’t touch Apple stuff however Google One gives 100gb for £1.59 a month, I use that.
Thanks for your replies. And yes, I already have iCloud and a pretty large subscription for my Google Drive account. These are the obvious answers, I was just wondering if there is anything out there that has been designed and tailored specifically for hi def drone media. Doesn’t sound like there is. Which is interesting in itself as a potential business opportunity!
I use a 1TB external hard drive. No monthly fees!
