I went to the seafront and across the road there is a field , so i set up and on my screen it came up that where i was its not permitted to fly a drone and if i did i were breaching rules and it gave me the choice to carry on only if i did i would be taking it upon myself to be held liable basicly so i didnt fly
Ive not come across this problem yet until today restricted flying zone .
@johnkeen-jrdxn Hiya
Was this a Red or Yellow Zone?
Oh i dont know it just came up on screen with a testricted fly zone and to be cautious flying
It said if i agree to fly i was taking matters into my own hands
The field is back away from the road and other side is the sea front
This is basicly the message on screen with a box to tick if i continue to take of
Am i by law able to take of
If i was to confirm and tick the box would i have been allowed to take of still
The area where i was is in yellow
It’s been beautiful here. As soon as I saw the blue sky I threw everything into my bag and basically ran out the door in case the weather changed its mind (it didn’t
).
Where was this and what drone was it?
I was at redcar near mddlesbrough using my mini 2
Ive got the fpvuk drone map and it shows yellow zone where i was stood and along the beach it shows red
I thought you could have flown a drone on a beach i have done before in wales but along this beach it shows all red areas
When you click on the red area what does it say?
It sounds like an SSSI (site of special scientific interest) which contains wildlife. It’s not a hard no - you just need to make sure you’re not endangering the wildlife.
This is an SSSI which protects Breeding birds: Avocet, Recurvirostra avosetta, Little tern, Sterna albifrons, Common tern, Sterna hirundo. Non-breeding birds: Shelduck, Tadorna tadorna, Shoveler, Anas clypeata, Gadwall, Mareca strepera, Ringed plover, Charadrius hiaticula, Knot, Calidris canutus, Ruff, Philomachus pugnax, Sanderling, Calidris alba, Purple sandpiper, Calidris maritima, Redshank, Tringa totanus, Sandwich tern, Sterna sandvicensis. Common seal, Phoca vitulina. More than 20,000 Non-breeding waterbirds
You must not endanger wildlife. Hence it is good to be aware that all of these are present in this location.
Oh thanks for that information there is a few other places like that around here
thanks for sharing this info - i was interested as thedronemap.com looks like it has more accurate info than NATS. I see temporary elevated risk yellow warnings for cranes etc… does a 1NM radius yellow area mean you can fly but to be careful…?
