Tryp FPV is my new favourite, unattainable sim

I had a gamer laptop on loan for the weekend with an install of Tryp FPV.
It has a lot of the things I’m looking for in a sim. After training on Uncrashed and Liftoff: Tiny Drones for a couple of months, I settled on a couple of locations in each that I use regularly and have started to get a bit bored.
So I love that the training maps in Tryp are so huge and varied. Great for freeflight exploration with roads and other features to follow, but also filled with interesting little areas to practice freestyle. And it has challenges. And you have weather options as well as wind speed.
But this app eats resource - with the graphics setting on High (the second highest level) I was getting a reasonable 60fps in goggle mode, but shadows would pop on and off unrealistically like they do in early versions of Liftoff.
Also - no whoops are included in the model menu. I suppose this is realistic. The sort of endless flights you can do in Uncrashed with the Cetus X are a bit implausible. That thing isn’t going up a 100m building!
I just wish it would run on my PC, but my graphics card isn’t that high spec - although it runs Uncrashed just fine and it looks great. With no major cash injection on the horizon, I’ll just have to keep on dreaming.
I think Tryp still gets regular updates and tweaks, so perhaps they will improve its efficiency in the future?

It is very pretty and great to explore. Liftoff is better for Training purposes though. I don’t like the way Tryp lauches and does not have a requirement to land.

The scenarios are pretty cool though - maybe I should get back to them! In fact, I might have to boot up the PC now  !

Never tried a sim. What’s the recommended one to start with?

Liftoff is the most established and has good physics but is getting pretty old.
The recent Liftoff Micro Drones is great, challenging, but only has little drones that go buzzz.
Velocidrone is the one pro racers swear by.
Drone Racing League is the one pro racers used to swear by.
Uncrashed is the current winner for big cinematic flights and freestyle.
Tryp FPV has even bigger cinematic flights, but is still in early access, not really mature but very enjoyable. Also, needs a decent graphics card.
FPV Logic is still early access and has potential, with complex environments but is even less ready than Tryp.

It’s a strange world, FPV sims: it’s almost as if marketing doesn’t really exist here. I guess if you need an RC to fully enjoy them, that makes them quite niche, but Tryp FPV doesn’t even have a website.
I found the best way to choose was to get Chat GPT to draw up a comparison table of the features.

Yes, it just drops you in mid-air at the beginning so you don’t take off. And landing is really hard, especially in the mountain levels where nothing is actually flat. It has potential though: you have to manage your speed more carefully to land than in other sims.
