Topic Title length

I was just wondering why the topic titles have to be 15 or more characters?

Discourse enforces a minimum 15-character topic title to improve content quality, reduce spam, and ensure titles are descriptive enough to help users understand what the post is about before clicking.

This constraint forces users to move beyond generic titles like “help” or “question”, fostering better, searchable, and more informative discussions.

Key reasons for the 15-character limit include:

Encouraging Descriptive Titles: It forces users to write more, providing better context for readers.
Quality Control: It serves as a, perhaps blunt, indicator of effort; a very short title is often indicative of a low-effort post.
Improved Searchability: Longer, more descriptive titles are easier to find through forum search and external search engines.
Reduced Noise: It prevents, or reduces, the number of low-value, short-titled threads (e.g., “help please”, “urgent”).
Usability & Context: It ensures that when browsing, users can distinguish between different, possibly related topics.
