Having purchased a dji mini 4 pro to approach a different angle to photography and zero experience in drones I am having a bit of a hard time finding out about legal TOAL. I am sure there is many experienced drone enthusiasts who may be able to help out on this. Where do you take off from and land at a location legally, on site with permissions, off site no permission, pathway, car park etc?
Is there any open land in the Wigan area or close that I could start flying my drone to practice legally?
To fly a DJI Mini 4 Pro in the UK, First you need to register with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and obtain an “Operator ID” as the drone weighs under 250g, meaning you only require this ID and not a separate “Flyer ID”; you should also read and understand the user manual and check local airspace restrictions before flying. I would say do the Flying ID test also then you have both & this test will help a lot in what you are asking. Next you will need the “app” Drone Assist, This app will shaw you of the restrictions in the area you are going to fly & might land you could fly. If you have the FPVUK assurance there will be less restrictions.
Thank you for your response. I have maintained all my operator ID, flyer ID paid to join FPV members. I have read the manual for the drone and have an understanding how drone assist app works. My unsure area is with taking off and landing at locations legally and not to annoy anyone, once in the air the restrictions are clear through drone assist but you come across private land and bylaws for taking off and landing which seems a very unknown area.
Minefield that’s for sure. Try at first remote places like football field with no footballers. you can take off on public places just keep to section 16
Thank you for your reply, there is a field close by that has three football pitches on so I will go and check that out when they are not being used with plenty of space.
