This is low force waterfalls and the famous Wynch bridge
Wynch bridge was built in the 1700s for the minors to get across to the mines but collapsed and was then rebuilt in the early 1800s and the chain suspension bridge still stands today allowing one at a time to cross .
Low force is a 18 ft series of stepped rock on the river tees shaped by millions of years changes and local industrial heritage .
Low force and high force has millions of years history including viking roots and thats where it gets its name
The word Force comes from the old norse word Fors which means Waterfall .
