Thanks. We have tweaked the code so that it doesn’t show the install popup on Firefox or Opera, since those browsers don’t support it properly.
It just seems to be a problem with install. Once installed and chrome disabled again the app runs fine and all functions, as far as I can see, work in Firefox. All the text popups and location etc. seem ok.

If only Microsoft, Apple et al were like you. Thanks Simon.
Added GPS location, postcode/place lookup, persistent location / layer selection today too.

Love the App. Do miss the SSSI extra info but not a show stopper and will be using this on a regular basis now.
I’ll get that added ASAP.
But, I have to ask, why?
An SSSI is for geology, or landform features, like rare plants, important habitats (ancient woodland, grasslands, heaths), or significant geological formations - or wildlife. Which may or may not have migrated to Africa.
There’s nothing to prevent you flying in an SSSI.
(You can’t endanger wildlife of course).
So could you fill me in as to why it is important to include SSSIs on the map?
We have many coastal areas here that are SSSI’s. some are sensitive to overflight so if there are specific issues it’s nice to be able to check what the specific SSSI is. Protected bird sanctuary for example.
Thanks Mike. That’s useful.
I’ll get it added asap.
It’s great to see this gap being filled again and sure with the community helping it’s going to keep improving ![]()
I think as well it’s one of the items we can’t see out on the ground, so handy to have a map to check. I guess a lot of the SSSI’s may not impact flight but very handy to check.
It can make the difference between a total avoid or an over flight, depending on the actual conditions. Flora and Forna are totally different considerations to Protected birds etc. Thanks Simon ![]()
SSSIs are now showing on the map.
They will be further enhanced shortly too.
@SimonDale Thank you for all the work put into making the map possible ![]()
Hi Simon, the map is great although I I can’t find the rules/ regulations when I click in a A CTR controlled zone
Hi Jeff
CTRs don’t effect drones, which is why we have that layer turned off by default.
It’s worth knowing they’re there, potentially. But they don’t actually effect your drone flying.
All the best
Simon
Hi Simon, I had read the rules in these areas and thought the same regarding not applicable to drones flying under 400ft so this makes perfect sense to leave them off as default.
Thanks Jeff
Thanks for doing this @SimonDale, I was still using the now defunct equivalent with more than normal checks around it and less than normal flying outings, hopefully this year may see more flight time.
It might be my phone settings, but when I’ve added the shortcut to my iPhone desktop I can’t use this button to centre on my location as it says I’ve not allowed it. It works as expected if I view it in safari with no warning or dialogue..
Hi Tim and welcome to FPV UK!
That does sound like a settings thing. Can you uninstall it, and then install it again and see if that fixes it?
