On November 14th 2025 Storm Claudia hit and the river level rose to just over 5 meters higher than in this video. I Can testify to that as our house had 2 feet of very muddy water in it which took 6 months to recover from and at a cost of almost £200k. Please remember when visiting places like this that it is peoples homes and it only stays beautiful if it is looked after. Our beautiful village is unfortunately well renowned for it’s wild swimming and similar to Bourton on the Water suffers terribly as a result of over tourism. Please be respectful so people can continue to enjoy the beauty for many generations to come where ever that may be.
Thats is a great video, thank you. However, is there a subliminal side message that is saying, very politly, that only you or your fellow villagers can access these views?
I am thinking this tone is there by your comments of over tourism, your homes, and leaving it for others.
What I am saying is when folks are visiting ANYWHERE be respectful and remember it is most likely someone’s home. Urinating and defecating in bushes AND EVEN in peoples gardens is NOT being respectful. Neither is leaving litter, lighting fires, playing loud music…
These things do not add to the beauty of anywhere I am sure you will agree.
It’s simple really, I wouldn’t come and s*** in your van as I’d expect that to p*** you right off.
Common sense basically.
I thought so. You did put it very eloquently though. I TOTALLY AGREE with you.
There again, I’m ex forces and take no shit off these ejits you have unfortunately seen.
If I see this behaviour, please be assured THEY WILL only do it the once and then “learn their lessons”.
There is absolutly no reason what so ever to be filthy ba’tards. They can be in their own home if they wish, but not in places I go.
Please be assured of that. Also, challenge them yourself. If they intimidate you, retreat then slash the tyres or tyre valves at night works better. Maybe smear their shit on the door handles. That works very well.
Up until a few years ago I’d be with you but unfortunately the years haven’t been kind to me. I doubt I could fight my way out of a paper bag nowadays. There is an old red telephone box in the village which is grade 2 listed. A group of 14 year old boys were kicking it and throwing things at it etc. Then a car pulled up and it was one the boys mothers. I went out and had words with said mother only to he told they were just 14 year old boys having fun and that I should just F off and mind my own business. The boys then spent the next 10 minutes walking up and down in front of my house waving sticks around. There are just too many idiots with knives, for me now the best form of self defence is get out of the way. Age and poor health is a sad thing. When I was a lad the police would quite literally have given me a thick ear. Now it seems the wrong doers are the ones that get protected.
I do wonder where it will all end.
