I’ve been asked if using a drone to deter Gulls from the roof of a building is legal. From what I have read Gulls are agressive and it they could down a drone. However, some pest control companies seem to be using them. If anyone has any knowledge on this I’d appreciate a chat.
In the UK, all species of gulls are fully protected
Because flying a drone at gulls causes them stress and forces them to alter their behaviour or flee their nests, it is legally classified as intentional harassment..wildlife an country act 1981
However pest control can apply for special licenses through the CAA

When I did my licence training, I’m sure it was explicitly stated that chasing ‘wildlife’ was not allowed. I’m happy not to bother, the risk to my drone would be markedly higher than flying it over a swimming pool, which was nerve wrecking! Thanks for your input 
Wise choice chris..gulls are very aggressive even more at mating and nesting times up till September..I personally use a drone for sea fishing
Had gulls chance my drone swift action needed in most cases
