Hi everyone,I’m new here & new to drones,so please go steady with me,I’m just in the process of getting my first drone & I’ve narrowed it down to these 2,unless someone can recommend differently for a complete novice.

DJI Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo Plus with RC 2, Drone with Camera, Obstacle Sensing, ActiveTrack 360°, 225° Gimbal Rotation, 1-Inch CMOS, 4K Drone for Beginners (Mini 5 Pro Fly More Combo Plus)

& the other one

DJI Air 3S Fly More Combo (RC 2 Screen Remote Controller), 4K Drone With 1″ CMOS Wide-Angle & Medium Tele Camera for Adults, 4K/60fps, Omnidirectional Sensing, 3 Batteries

Welcome to the forum, both are excellent choices.

Air 3S has the advantage of the secondary 70mm focal length camera and being a bit bigger more wind resistant. Other than that not a lot to choose between the two.

Before I commit to buy a drone, what do I actually need to fly legally,I know it’s best to get insurance but is their anything else I need.?

2 different weights so some limitations. I would go with Mini 4 or 5 Pro then you are not tied to some limits…Welcome and Good Luck…By the way I am just up the Road from you in Scarborough.

The regulations changed on weights beginning of the year You can fly an Air 3S in the same places as a Mini now.

UK0, UK1 C0, C1 can all fly over people (A1)

Mini is 0
Air 3S 1

The top weight limit is now 900 grams for class marked drones in A1

The mini 5 pro has just come down in price on Amazon to £959 will the larger batteries & a few extras

Thanks…Never new that. Are all the rules for the 900 gram drones the same rules as the 249 Drones.I have just stuck to the 249 drones in the past.

Take a look on the DJI site…They are doing the mine 5 Pro with 3 larger batt’s ans n d filters etc for £935 and free delivery.

Essentially yes, all class marked drones C0, UK0, C1 and UK1 can fly A1 .. ie over people and buildings etc.

Legacy drones without a class mark the sub 250gm rule still applies to fly A1.

There maybe some changes for C0 and C1 marked Drones in 2027. But anything you buy now will be UK class marked.
