New Member from West Sussex

Hi all my name is Roger and i am living in West Sussex. I recently purchased a DJI mini 4 pro drone with the Rc2 controller, I haven’t had any practice time with.the drone.yet due to weather :disappointed::person_facepalming: But hopefully once this improves to go through some practice time and go through tutorials.I have a flyer id and operater id and also just recently joined FPVUK and having this is a great knowing that you have the community and knowledge from other members. I also picked up some fly by settings laminated sheets to change settings within the Rc2 controller.
I have downloaded drone assist and had a look where you can and cannot fly. My main interest is doing aerial lanscape photography/Filming where i am permitted and flying safely.
Can anyone tell what are the rules are within flying your drone in a national parks? as i am fairly close to the southdowns national park and couldn’t find any information on what was the rules for flying your drone. Is there any members within west Sussex who is willing to meet up?
Thankyou again for letting me part of the community regards Roger

Hello mate

I’m also new and the happy owner of a DJI Neo. Based on the border of West Sussex and Surrey and also up for learning, sharing info and meeting up.

Can’t say I know many, or any, of the rules around the national parks. I’m still trying to learn the laws myself

Hello Seb,Many thanks for the reply.
I would be interested in meeting up. I haven’t looked into any information what the southdowns national park rules are with flying drones or it seems its a bit vague or give any information. I will dig deeper into finding out what the law is with this. I am fairly new also to the hobby and really haven’t had time to go out and practice yet due to poor weather :disappointed:
Regards Roger

Well come DroneDad. To pass time videos videos an so on. if you can’t fly do the flight checks then take off the blades this allows you to start the drone full throttle then all the way down to land & turns motors off without moving or blowing the dust all over, might sound a bit daft but do it few times & you will have that bit under your belt for when you do go outside. when you do go out side tuse a field open space pref no humans dogs horses. put the drone down take steps back to give you a ten feet distance, Set you drone max hight say 20 feet, max distance away from you 20 feet. calibrate. listen for the home point conformation. gradually increase the distances as you get the experience. get used to looking into the screen on the radio flying around then looking to were the drone is in the sky, when its far away & you look for it from the screen to the drone its not always easy to pinpoint the drone straight away, All good practice practice practice.
Rules do read section 16 over & over I still ant got it lol ass well ass the rest. I thinking of putting a post on about sec/16.
Parks I’ve found in my area at least its a no go. you will need the app “Drone Assist”, it gives you all sorts of good info like wind speed, wind direction, temperature, chance of rain, clouds cove an so on. as well as drone restriction zones.
