New member and new drone flyer

Hi all my name is Steven and I have just bought my first drone being the dji neo. I got a cheaper one to learn before I buy better as I hear lots of stories about nembies crashing expensive drones. I have noticed this time of year is a nightmare with the wind any suggestions on what to film if I can get out due to weather conditions?

HI I am wondering if anyone can help please, I have a V198 not the max version so i use it in conjuntion with my Samsung android phone.
I can link the two together and get the camera image on the phone, however as i press record and the fly the drone the image capture fails.
Can anyone help please
Kind regards Jeff (beginner)

Hi @jeffpeterwild-7lxk8 When using a phone/drone combination you need to connect the phone to the drones WiFi before starting the App on the phone…

@stevenmaybank Welcome to Drone Hub

@stevenmaybank Hi Steven and welcome to the Drone Hub.
Where abouts in the uk are you?..And have you checked out TheDroneMap.com this will tell you where you are permitted and most importantly where you are not permitted to fly your drone.

Hi Steve, yes i do that in the WiFi settings and I get the image up on the phone and remains there while I fly. However as soon as the video record button is pressed it stops filming screen freezes at point the record button was pressed ???
Kind regards Jeff

Hi jeff :waving_hand:
When image capture or video recording fails specifically as soon as you start flying, it is almost always caused by a MicroSD card write-speed bottleneck, 5G Wi-Fi signal drop, or an app permission restriction.Because the standard V198 relies heavily on your smartphone’s Wi-Fi connection or a basic memory card interface, the sudden surge of data generated by moving scenery during flight can easily overwhelm the system. This could be reason why then the image fails.
I hope this has helped :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Hi im in Merthyr South Wales. I use drone map and drone checker to keep an eye on the weather and any good spots. But typical welsh weather is always high wimds and raining hahaha

it could also be there isn’t enough space for the files the video recording is creating
