Just finished building another one

Last weekend, my mate had a pretty bumpy unplanned landing, resulting in a broken top-plate and a smoked FC. So he decided to get a new frame and a new stack. Parts arrived yesterday so I spent the day today putting it together for him.

The frame is an Apex 5 HD and the new stack is an Axis Argus ECO F405 with a 60A ESC running Bluejay.

It’s come out looking pretty nice, ready for a flight test tomorrow.

Just realised I forgot to update on this, the flight test went great, it’s a really nice, solid aircraft. Put a tune on it and it flew great, loads of power on a 6S and nicely locked-in feel to it. My mate is a happy chap! :slightly_smiling_face:

Lovely looking piece of kit Ross!

Might be a silly question but do you have a camera as part of the kit? Or is the velcro on top for a camera? In which case, how do you control all this from the ground?

I’ve not really looked at custom builds before but it looks interesting. :ok_hand:t3:

Thanks! It turned out pretty well, and I think the red Gemfan hurricanes I happened to have in-stock really set it off (plus, they’re great props  ).

He doesn’t run an action cam on this quad, it runs a HDZero Freestyle V2 VTX we pulled out of the wreckage of his old one and he’s got the HDzero BoxPro goggles with built-in DVR so he just records with that. There’s space up-front for an action-cam mount if he wants one though. The velcro is for the battery, control is via ELRS and the camera angle is fixed so no need to gimbal that from the remote.

I’m gonna be building myself a new quad this week (was supposed to be this weekend but the frame got delayed), planning to do a YouTube video of the build so if custom builds interest you, keep an eye out for that - I’ll post it here when it’s done.

Thanks bud. I’ll take a look for sure. But most of what you just said there flew right over my head…:joy:
