Is it worth it?

I’m in Majorca at the minute. Brought my Mini 3 drone. Thought I was going to be good to fly. However, looked deeper about certain areas the other day and found a raft of different information mentioning local permit submissions required between 5 and 35 days beforehand. Some people saying they’ve flown everywhere and others saying the island is practically a NFZ. So much so that I’ve decided not to take it out of its case and give up. It’s demoralising quite frankly.

Bottom line is…How on earth is anybody supposed to fly legally and prepare to do so properly when there is so much conflicting information out there? It’s beginning to get really tedious now in all honesty. I don’t mind spending time looking into various places and checking the lay of the land (or the air above it so to speak) but you’re good one minute, the next you’re not. You go into a deep hole trying to find the info you want and end up wasting hours.

I like this hobby. It’s a hobby. I don’t want it to turn into a part time (unpaid) job on top of the job I already have.

I know it won’t ever happen but it’d be great if certain authorities would get their :poop: together and create straightforward guides of what is and what isn’t allowed. :man_shrugging:t3:

Your right ,it sounds like on the basis that you want to do it legally, and that’s a good thing. My best suggestion to you is reach out to drone hub, information ,and see if they can guide you to a legit app that covers you area .First step i would like to recommend is to go on your government site, reg. the drone ,and maybe at the same time you might come across some assitance. Drones are here to stay ,and as far as im concerned in my opinion ,If your country dose not want you to fly them, then don’t allow people to purchase them , Then ban it .wishing you the best.

I’m registered in the UK, in France, in the EU, flown extensively in Cyprus.

I post here regularly.

I’m just bored of the whole shebang of rules and LACK of rules that this hobby ellicits.

There’s no common place of info. I want to do it right but there’s nowhere that helps me do it right..

So do I say “f@ck it, let’s do what I want?” and take a chance? I don’t want to spend my life filming sodding aqueducts and windmills or fields of wheat or whatever.

I’m starting to think that the only joy I’ll get out of this hobby is working for Amazon in Darlington or being called up to the British army to fight against Russia in the near future :roll_eyes:
