Hi from sunny Blackpool

Hi there I have just joined, I live in Blackpool and being around 1/2 mile from airport I’m well within their FRZ. Presently travelling to either Trough of Bowland or Pilling sands to fly. I have a Mini 2 SE, a Neo and Mavic 2 Pro.

Welcome to DroneHub and FPV UK Phil!

I’m glad to hear you’re aware of the FRZ where you live

In theory, the airport should ‘not unreasonably withhold’ permission for you to fly in the FRZ. So you could speak to them and explain the parameters of your flying, and they may give you permission.

I believe they are very accommodating towards drone flyers. And that I can request permission through airportal. It’s more that in summer Blackpool can be very busy, and on the other hand I am still fairly new to drone flying. When I first got my mini2 se I did give them a call basically to ask if I needed their permission to fly if I kept below say 20 meters. They said that if I were to fly above roof level I should request permission. Maybe I will give it a go if we get a period of calm weather in December to Feb.

Hi thanks, it would be good to chat to someone else local. I’m also a member of another group , had a “local” meet-up near Selmersdale a few weeks ago, was good to meet others with various degrees of experience and aircraft.

Is class A2 worth doing?

its up to you if you want to fly big drones then you need it but if stay with small drones then dont do it
