I am a complete novice to flying drones and only done a couple of hrs flying trying to get used to the controls.
I have been retired for 4 years and need somthing to keep me occupied.Glad to be part of th group and hope to learn from you all.

welcome.I have been to Scotland,You have a beautiful place to practice.Best advice i can give you, is use the simulation, to get the hang of the controls, read throught the manual that drone hub has posted..highlighting on from paige 32.This advices you about all the checks that you need to carry out like firmware updates.What it may not stipulate is to label your batteries, so when you use the batteries, there used in rotation.Check the drone map list of potential clubs, or mentors that might be willing to work with you, if your like me coming from a photography background , that will come in handy,and since you have all the time, do a search on the internet, there are people out there willing to share there opinion on how they find the drone, and what to avoid.
The last thing ill leave you with , familerise yourself with what it cant do such as high winds, or the sensors not able to detect trees, or wires…The drone hub has a little basic test you can do.I can recall going over it several times, making it like muscle memory…Best of luck

One other thing comes to mind, and thats regarding your return to home settings, make sure the heoght of the reurn to home exceeds the hight of the tallest tree, or object, also know where the pause button is( hopefully your controller has this) , Just in case worse case scenario you feel your drone is going to fly into anything, you can stop it.
Also note legally the law says we can fly 400m away, but remember , you should always fly in the line of sight.I don’t want to frighten you off from flying , so enough said for now…

Other than that, Scotland its a dream for the flyer.

hi, im falkirk too, just a hobby for me, like to get out and practice, i had dji mini for a few years, rarely used it, just bought mini5 pro, and thats really changed things, its re ignited my enthusiasm for flying, just bought a set of Ray neo glasses to connect with controller, that is a game changer, it a bit like FPV.
