Great place to fly drones, plenty of open areas away from people if you want to be to launch you drones, as the local council has no byelaws or policies regarding drones it’s a great place to practice.
PS fly safely there are ducks, swans etc on the lake.
Also great line of sight over to Penshaw Monument. The site is owned by National Trust but they only can prohibit takeoff/landing on their land, meaning you can fly over from Herrington CP and take some really good shots.
