Hello from East Kent

I am new to drone ownership and have recently purchased a DJI Neo with RC-N3 Controller. Starting small. Hoping for better weather. Had a couple of practice sessions, but also a short flight within the restrictions of my garden and inside until my confidence grows. Still not completely sure as to where I can and cannot fly safely despite reading the Drone and Model Aircraft code. Airfield Crowds Prisons Royal Parks Privacy aware. Taken the CAA Test and acquired my OP, RP and FPVUK.

Hello Merlin and welcome to drone Hub
Its good to hear you have started to get some experience and practice with your drone. I recommend downloading a app called Drone Assist this will tell you where you can and can’t fly your drone. Also familiarise yourself with the drone code is good practice.
Being a FPVUK member also allows you to fly under article 16 operational Authorisation i also recommend familiarising yourself with this as its important information to know. Again welcome to drone Hub i am hoping better weather is with us soon :grin::pray: Regards Roger

Thank you Roger. No flights over the next few days planned, outside, anyway due to Storm Eowyn. Chance to study Article 16 and Drone code in more detail. Regards AJ

Yes flying from my back garden caused problems for me at first and it took time to get everyone to understand the whys and the hows. I’m well known for drones now and people are more understanding if we have insurance and I can understand why. It was one of the complaints that I got was the lack of insurance. So I joined FPV UK. Communication is key and I should have spoken to the neighbours first instead of after. I was a model helicopter flyer but only flown in parks and when I got my first drone I was bold and not shy to use it. Upon reflection I was an idiot and have calm down now. This was all a long time ago now. I’m now apart of drone SAR for lost dogs and have managed to get a mavic 3 thermal. So I am helping the local community for free. I still have all my old drones and they still work including my mini 2 and air 2. Half the problem is they don’t know who is behind the drone so talking to the neighbours really helps. If you solve that problem the rest should be easy and you have public liability already because you remember of FPV UK. Hopefully something here I r said is helpful.:+1:
