Have I discovered another horribly addictive hobby

So I have had my Potensic Atom 4k 3 axis for a bit over 3 weeks and clocked up nearly 3 hours of flight time.

I purchased this one as a cheaper alternative (it gets some fairly positive reviews online) to the usual DJI mini whichever versions to scratch the itch and see if I could control it well enough to get some footage for trip and event videos that I put together once in a while.

In the great outdoors I am suitably impressed with it (my control seems to be pretty good which you wouldn’t expect if you had ever seen me play computer/console games).

Indoors is a different matter, I guess the lack of GPS is probably the issue and it seems quite often to drift rather than static hover which is not much use for a couple of things I want to do which involve fly throughs of buildings and looking back at the shooting line in an indoor range (with the relevant permissions of course).

I am already thinking of adding to the hanger but possibly this time with a DJI model now the question is which one…

Mini 3 or 4 pro … would the obstacle avoidance be a drawback indoors? Still open propellers to potentially snag on things in tighter spaces.

Neo… Super small and light… horrible whiney noise from the reviews i have watched, possibly not so good outside, how does it maintain stable image as it doesn’t look like it has a 3 axis gimbal

Flip (my current favourite in this line up) … enclosed propellors, not whiney like the Neo, better camera than the Atom… but what is it like indoors?

Any and all suggestions etc welcome.

I am not looking to go over the magic 249g weight as I will need to fly fairly close to involved people at times and within reason in this regard I think lighter is better … just maybe not Neo lighter.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Have you thought about the avata 2 i have one brilliant bit of kit bigger version of the Neo

It’s a good point about the Neo and lack of gimbal.

If I had to guess I’d say it does it how the Avata 2 does the roll axis. It has a very big sensor, and then it crops it down using the data from the gyros and accelerometers (the IMU) to give a stable image.

It works super well on the Avata 2 so I dare say it does on the Neo too. Perhaps @Westbury can shed some light on this. He just took delivery of one, and flew it for the first time today.

He might also be able to answer the question about the whine. @Westbury is it annoyingly noisy?

Mini 4 Pro is incredible. They must have sold millions of them… Is it about to be replaced by a Mini 5? There are some indications that it is (Mini 4 Pro being on special offer, etc).
