I learned to hover third person first. It was beneficial.

Also, got the kill switch eary

Yes cool so far ive found it very dificult to hover in fpv, flying off ok but sitting low infront of myself difficult. But doing so not in fpv easy and a good way to get use to the orientation and changes in controls when you flip directions.

@RustyX4 How did you get on mate? Any update? It would be good to hear how things went…

Practice takeoff and landing first. Then basic manoevres like turning and hovering.
Sims don’t really force you to do that so it could be a weak point.
Get a feel for your throttle.

@Jellup - this is notoriously difficult at first. Top tip for that is to get your camera as close to level as you can, that way you don’t overcorrect the pitch. It also lets you cruise with much lower throttle as most of your thrust is directed downwards.
Apologies if I’m ‘teaching grandma to suck eggs’.

Thanks yes been setting lower on the angle and it helps just need to get more time outside as homes not big enough to fly rond, weather was ok today so took my 3.5 inch out for flight trials, last attempt had a fly away due to privious crash resetting the gyro.
Luckily i was able to disarm.
This flight was perfect but it was to windy to do very much other than flight checks.

Hey, it was alright, unfortunately I forgot to not be staring down so my VTX connection was a bit poor leading to me having to do a blind landing as it cut out for around a second which resulted in a rough landing. Luckily the drone is perfectly fine but the cable extension I had got cut up a bit and the balance lead cover cracked a little bit. I think next time i’m going to make sure the lead is short enough and maybe get a balance lead protector. At least it wasn’t complete disaster and I had good fun. Can’t wait to fly again.

I think you’re right, I felt I knew how to do more complicated tricks and fly fast, but I realised that when it came to landings I hadn’t really practiced that before. Definitely something to work on.

Having a 5 inch, or even a 3 inch fly towards you to land is a daunting prospect. It’s worth trying to practice landing Infront of a tree in the sim.

In the real world, stranger Infront of a tree or large object stuff when you hover there’s a point of reference.
