I used to use LiftOff, from ImmersionRC. It is on Steam according to a quick Google.
I’m going back a good few years now so I dare say it has been superseded, but it was pretty good. Perhaps they have kept it up to date and it’s still worthy.
Did look at LiftOff but it did seem more racing oriented. Have continued to use the FPV.SkyDive on steam and even bought a couple of the DLC add ons for it for new zomes.
It’s certainly doing the job for now and now have a few freestyle zones..
We’ll see how it goes. LiftOff may well be on the menu if I run into limitations as a I improve within FPV.SkyDive.
FPV.SkyDive did have the advantage that the simulator is free to downlaod and use but with just 1 drone and limited zones. At least you can try it first. Or if someone just wants to have a go at no cost.
Other drones and zones to fly in come at cost.
I’m not experienced enough to know if the physics etc are spot on, but having fun with it so far.
Personally, I really like Uncrashed. It has some nice big areas for freestyle, a couple of mad bandos too, and I was able to find my drone on it. It is unrealistically easy at first (the Cetus X behaves like it has an infinite, weightless battery) but you can change the weather and then things get interesting. Hopefully someone will model my vapor d6 as I can’t be fussed…
There is supposed to be a new version of Liftoff coming out called XR, but I’ve not seen it available. It’s supposed to highlight bigger drones and freestyle again.
The original liftoff with big drones is really old now and the stock drones are pretty dated.
The Micro Drone edition is great if you flew those. The indoor level in the swanky house is pretty challenging.
I just bought Uncrashed as it’s on sale at the moment and had heard good thiings. Graphically nice and my flyings slowly improving… Sometimes 3 or 4 minutes between crashes !
I fly Uncrashed for the cinematic experience of flying bigger drones in big, uncluttered scenery. It has the biggest choice of levels of all my sims.
I switch to the playground level in Liftoff: Tiny Drones if I want to constantly crash into cables and get trapped under beches and ledges.
During my last practice session I discovered that you can freestyle collect balloons on there without a timer running and have a soft learning experience that still pushes you a bit.
I have to have two sims so I can switch when I get too frustrated with one.
Running on a mix of FPV.SkyDive and Uncrashed things are really starting to shape up now. Flights in excess of 20 mins and getting used to flying close to the ground.
Still not that accurate so no construction sites or abandoned buildings yet.
But am tempted flick the switch to manual on my Neo…
Liftoff and Uncrashed are both good via Stream. I’d also recommend checking out Joshua Bardwell’s YouTube series on learning to fly as he takes you through the whole process and has some great tips.
