Good Morning All
I know in fog is a no no - but what about over fog? There is a lovely blanket over the town today and I live high up so I am over it now -and the air above is clear - but will the fog moisture still affect the drone?
Thanks -and enjoy your day

@pcoventry You would need have VLOS doing that but if youโre already above the fog and the height of the drone is still under 400 meters from the ground there shouldnโt be an issue. If the drone is taking off under the fog then yes moisture will be an issue, above it the temp may also be an issue.

regardless of whether or not you are above the fog or not ,the idea is fraught with danger to your drone ,the fog it is flying above would confuse the sensors if the drone decended into it if an emergency RTH happened or indeed if you accidently went into the fog at some point ,also the cold and moisture would affect the drone, and could also cause prop icing a quick take off and a 360 pan would be ok and then land and let the drone live to fly another day

Thank you for the replies. The fog was about 100M below us so I did have a fly over it - Drone is fine. It was also sunny so I think that helped. I got a lovely photo and now charging up ready for tomorrow.

I wonder if you had a spotter above fog for VLOS and coms then I think its possible as a common sense way to take a photo shot ? I do stand to be corrected as I am new to this hobby

I was not out of VLOS - I live on a Hill and the fog was below us. My son is my spotter - When he flys I spot and then we swap.
