I wonder if anyone has any experience of using their drone abroad? I hope to be travelling to Australia and take my new drone with me. As it is below 250 g they seem to be little or no obstacles in the way. I am however travelling via Singapore even though I don’t intend to fly there. Do I still need to meet Singapore requirements? They are asking for a drone pilots license from what I can see.
Hi @Roverdrive
No. If you are not flying your drone in Singapore you do not need to do anything for there.
Thanks for that Simon
Hi @Roverdrive
Did you ever get to Australia and fly your drone?
Yes did get there and obviously hadn’t done enough research! Each state has different rules for flying in national parks which of course where you probably want to fly the most. Some ban drones entirely, and others require permits which can take 10 days to obtain.
Outside national parks is ok in the main but I recommend an app called ok2fly as it highlight prohibited/ restricted/ and safe areas

Thanks for the info. I’ll do a bit more research when I get there.
I’m flying off today for Melbourne and surrounds, and a bit of SA. The bit of research I have done suggests that flying a DJI 4 Mini Pro is no issue. My only concern is public liability, and it looks expensive.
My batteries are in my hand luggage, but what will the airline say about my controller??

I’d start now.
Permit takes 10 days.
I had my complete drone, batteries and controller in my carry on.
