Good afternoon,
I’m a “new to drones in every respect” silver-surfing landscape photographer, based in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
Originally based in Norfolk on the U.K.'s east coast, my wife and I moved up here a little over 18 months ago. At age 60, I’ve decided it’s time to up the game (quite literally!!) and embrace the many seeming delights of aerial photography and video. I whetted the appetite for all things drone last year when I bought myself a little DJI Neo (no laughing at the back there please!!!), affectionately known as Nev Drone, which I’ve actually found to be a lot more bang for it’s buck than I expected. That positive experience led me to get a DJI Mini 3 (a.k.a. Bob Mini) last week and without even getting it into the air properly, I’m seeing the significant step forward with it - as mentioned, I do landscape photography and have done for many years (one of the main reasons for moving to Scotland) and just using the picture and video facilities, I can already see it’s going to be delivering what I want it to.
I’ve done the necessary operator and flight licence thingummies and as I’ll be looking to fly Bob and Nev in certain places across Scotland, I joined the FPV UK to gain more knowledge of drone flying and take advantage of the public liability insurance. I do believe in trying to do things right these days (a far cry from how I was in my youth - totally reckless and gave not a thought about consequences), so finding FPV UK was a real positive addition to my forward plans ![]()
