Filters and lens protection

A tip I picked up many years ago when I first started photography was to keep a uv filter on my lenses permanently.A uv filter does little to effect a photograph apart from limiting that annoying blue haze you can sometimes get on landscapes but it is an excellent lens protector and it’s far cheaper to replace a filter than it is a lens.I just bought a uv nd filter for my drone

I have UV filters on my drones, as you say primarily for protection. Use ND filters sometimes for videos. But always with something over the lens !
