Drones labelled as sub 250g

I’m looking to buy a DJI mini pro5 but I see that although it’s sold as a sub 250g,it’s actually been weighed at 253 ish.Would I still be held liable for flying above weight even though the specs say it’s not?

I am no expert but as I understand the Mini 5 should be class marked with C0 which means you can fly in the A1 subcategory (the same as a <250g) drone as the manufacturer has declared it meets this standard.

Hope it helps

Mini 5 Pro is a C0 / UK0 drone under UK and European law. This classification system has a tolerance on weitght which is why at 253 grams the 5 pro still qualifies.

The only area of problem that might result is if you plan to travel to countries like the USA that dont recognise these classification and have very different regulations based around an absolute 250 gram limit. Below 250 you dont have to register, above you do.

If your planning to travel the Mini 4 Pro might be a better option as it’s a true sub 250 gm.

Thanks mate,I don’t intend to do much if any travel beyond our shores anymore so I think I’ll be fine :slightly_smiling_face:

Cheers. My current drone is around 200g but as it’s a legacy drone,I’ll have to change it sooner or later.I already have flyer and operator I.D. so all that’s ok,I just wondered if I could be held responsible for a drone being overweight beyond what the specs say.I think I’ll be ok though
