Has anyone actually managed to detect a drone using the drone remote ID detector apps?
I can’t detect either my Avata 2, or Atom 2, which are both apparently set-up and transmitting remote ID.
I have tried actually flying the aircraft, etc (in case it doesn’t transmit until airborne) - but nothing is detected. What about you?

Since the phone app lacks an antenna, I don’t see how it could work. Surely a detector would need an antenna and maybe a dedicated device?

Phones have built in antenna for WiFi & BT, the range may be somewhat limiting, but they do work or you would never be able to connect to your home WiFi or car…

Agreed, but extremely limited range. Certainly not 120 metres.

@SimonDale I have two apps i use Dronetag and Drone scanner and i often use them to check if other drone users are in the vicinity and i have not detected any drones with these apps as off yet, I think what @Challenger said the range is very limited to not having a antenna.
I did have a look at a company called Dronetag.com they have a device which defects other drones in a 3 mile radius its called a Dronetag Rider which is a portable Drone and pilot detection device this costs €999 or $1,099 here is a link if anyone is interested

Yeah, limited range is fine - my drones are about 1 metre away in the office - but I am interested to know if they are actually transmitting remote ID or not.
There are videos online of people using these apps successfully, but none in the UK.
