Do I need an A2CofC to fly this drone legally? With the DJI Lito Series Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, the total takeoff weight of the DJI Lito X1 is approximately 288 grams.
Here is how that breaks down:
- Standard Takeoff Weight: ~249 g (includes the standard ~79 g battery)
- Intelligent Flight Battery Plus Weight: ~118 g
- Net Increase: Adding the Plus battery adds about 39 grams of extra weight compared to the standard setup.
Putting the Plus battery into the drone bumps its flight time to an impressive 52 minutes, but it pushes the total weight past the critical 250-gram threshold. The Lito X1 is compatible with Goggles 3 and RC2 but not RC2 PRO sadly.
@Challenger No, you do not need an A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) to legally fly the DJI Lito X1.
The DJI Lito X1 features different UK class markings depending on the specific model/combo you purchase UK0 Class Marking: Standard combos with the regular Intelligent Flight Battery keep the drone under 249g and carry a UK0 (or equivalent EU C0) label. This allows you to fly in the A1 Open Category (over people, but not large crowds.
If your DJI Lito X1 happens to have a UK1 / C1 class marking (which applies to the Fly More Combo Plus with extended batteries), you are still in the A1 category and do not require an A2 CofC.
While the A2 CofC is not legally required for the Lito X1, you must still ensure you comply with the following basic UK requirements.
Thanks for the clarification. It’s marked UK1, so it’s good to go. You’ve put my mind at rest. I want to stay legal. Most appreciated.
