Commercial startup advice please

Hi all,

I’ve just found out I’m going to be made redundant in 5 weeks, and want to get out of the game anyway.

I’ve thought about starting up a commercial drone business. What do you think the chances of making decent money out of it are?

Bearing in mind I’ve never flown a drone before… I’ve got a Neo 2 waiting for me when I get home on Tuesday! Total newbie, but I can pretty much turn my mind to anything, and when I have something that interests me, I’m all in. I realise I’m going to have to upgrade from the Neo!

I’m thinking roof surveys, estate agent shots, builders shots etc.

Any tips, advice welcome. What drone to get etc.

TIA!

@MikeDidAThing Best thing 1st is to fully investigate what you need in terms of drones, insurance, training etc.

I would start with gaining more flight hours in FPV Article 16 gives you both cover and the authorisation to fly in recreational areas.

Presume you already have a drone as you’re here already

Maybe look at A2 CofC or GVC training (all cost) if you plan going commercial.

@MarcusB Thanks. I have a Neo 2 waiting for me for when I get home from work on Tuesday, but I’ve never flown a drone. I’ll be doing lots of practicing with that to see if I’m any good for a start, and then get my flight hours in. I’ll then look into doing the cofc, then the RPC-L1? In the meantime, I’ll be canvassing some local companies to see their interest. If I get any, I’ll think about the upgrade to a pro drone
