New to this group. I do not have a drone yet. I have been looking, waiting for Black Friday.
For my son and I.
Dont want to spend a lot on first drone. One I homed in on was the DJI mini 4K but thinking rather spend around £150 if I can get an offer.Deerc D65 was another thought
The one I now have my eye on is the Potensic Atom LT?
I have both the DJI Mini 2 & Mavic 2 Pro i’ve only ever used these 2 drones and I would say they are worth the investment especially if you’re using them for making videos etc.
@PaulPaulUK I would also look to ensure you have a Operator ID and dependent on the drone weight a Fly ID, feel free to check out the CAA website if you’ve not already done that
My advice would be to buy a DJI drone from the outset. Even if it’s their cheapest model. If you buy something else you will most likely be disappointed and/or end up replacing it with the DJI before very long. Your other branded drone will either be stuck in the top of a tree, in a river, or never seen again and even if you do still have your hands on it, it’ll have no resale value.
Save yourself the agro and go direct to a DJI.
DJI Neo starts at £169.
The Amazon only DJI Mini 4K is £269. I would highly recommend this over the other brands you mention.
Thanks very much for your straight talking advice and recommendation
I do know what you mean and that thought is alwsys in the back of the mind about just paying a bit more and getting a bit better an item
Buy cheap, pay twice scenario
The DJI mini 4 K was the dearer one I was initially looking at.
Not sure whats holding me back or hesitant, I think it maybe what to do if I dont justify using it enough or just a fad, hence thought to try a cheaperish one.
I dont fancy paying £269 but if Amazon did an offer and its virtually £200 then thats another thought
I have the mini 4k albeit this was purchased from eBay for £200 after 2 uses and was/is in immaculate condition, so that’s an option unless you’re insistent on buying new.
I’ve had FIMI drones in the past and have to say that the DJI mini 4k is just a great stable little platform.
I’ve added an image taken first thing in the morning from the mini 4k, now to start saving up for the Mavic 3s
My 1st post reply, as I’ve only been periodically flying my Mini2 SE for a short while and I’m still learning. But I can advise not to worry about a lack of follow me, waypoints, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance etc - all really great stuff - but in my very limited experience, learning how to fly a ‘basic’ (and some seem a lot more ‘basic’ than others!) entry level drone is a good way to start. Best of luck with whatever method of ‘drone addiction’ you choose!
Have you thought of buying straight from DjI? And at the same time purchasing a care package. This is what I did after hearing about dodgy “fake” deals on Amazon. Also look at their refurbished offerings.
I started with the atom 3 axis 4k just to get to grips with flying as my employer was putting a group of us through training as was purchasing a matrice 350…
Was very impressed and the little drone got me hooked, as i now have a Air 3 and a Neo.
Would highly recommend a Neo as very easy to operate and quite tough, only downside is its not great in the dark, where the potensic was fine but i don’t think it could take many knocks.
