Hi all!
Just unboxed my very first drone (a DJI Mini 5 Pro) and I’m itching to fly, but I’m completely lost in the sea of UK drone regulations. London airspace feels like a minefield online!
Anyone have some straightforward advice on where a beginner can safely and legally practice? Hope you’re all enjoying the amazing weather.
Side note: I’d love to join any local meetups if there are groups flying nearby.

Welcome to the forum. It’s a lot simpler than it initially looks finding somewhere to fly.
You can take off and land from pretty much anywhere that’s publicly accessible.
You cant take and land from private land without the landowners permission but you can fly over private land as the airspace is controlled by the CAA.
You do need to check there are no flight restrictions in place and the easiest way to do that is https://thedronemap.com/
All the above assumes you are CAA registered etc.
Some councils restrict you from flying from within their parks but you can still fly over them. Look for any signs.
