Brand new to droning

Ive taken the first steps in droning and have spent my money on some kit.
Ive bought a brand new DJI mini pro 3 fly more. I am in remission for cancer and the damage to my bones mean getting about is extremely painful so ive bought a mobility scooter so i can spend time on the Northumberland coast creating 4K UHD scenery videos that i plan to put on youtube as something to give me purpose. Ive got my operator ID and Flyer id and have done all my research but is there anyone who can offer generic advice for a beginner. Im practicising indoors at the moment until the weather inproves somewhat to tey and get used to flying.

Hi,
I have a DJI Mini 4 Pro…never tried to fly it indoors. Is it possible without causing too much damage ???

I have a few apps I have downloaded and have now used to take 2 flights this week. Drone assist and UV forecast for the weather, I am sure there are others but have found these very useful, the only thing I seem to be struggling with is sssi locations in my area I am riddled with the and I am not sure where to fly. All the best with your flights :grinning:

I just did this today with my mini 4k ,did the auto take off to 1.2m then slowly and carefully navigated the rooms in my house, it had a tendency of floating towards the walls when hovering so you almost always need to keep moving to avoid crashing , but was fun :grinning:

Hello Robwak,
Just be careful as flying indoors with no GPS connection makes your drone go into attitude mode, meaning it will drift while hovering. you will need to be careful and keep making micro adjustments during the flight.

You can buy prop guards for the mini 4 pro, at a relatively inexpensive cost. They can be found here:

These should prevent any serious damage to any walls you could unintentionally collide with, and will protect your propellers as well. Happy Flying!

Hi Matty,
Thanks for the info, always over care full when trying out any drone in my House. I have a tiny Rize Tello and it is part made using DJI bits and when it takes off in the House it never moves a fraction. It just sits and waits for commands. How do they do this ?? It only cost about £116.00 with charger and 3 batteries.Cheap or what.

Tello has downward facing cameras that it uses as a Vision Positioning System.

This is basically like an optical mouse. It is looking at the image it sees below, and by comparing the images it can detect which way it is moving…and if that is not commanded the drone uses its motors to move the opposite way. All on a very fast and minute scale, so that it stays still.
