Hi All,
Question on battery storage. When not in use is it best practice to leave the battery in the drone (flip) in my case or to take it out. Or does it matter either
I would always go for the removal of the battery from the drone or anything else, DJI recommend storage of batteries at around 60% but to be sure check what the manual for your model says…
Remember long term storage required the batteries to be charged back to around 60% every three months or so, but again check the manual

Remove, Store in holder wrong way round.
I fly my mini 4 pro daily (except when its raining) so my batteries are always fully charged. If storing them without flying DJI recommend a 60% charge. Having them fully charged means they don’t last as long but spares are only £59.each. I number my batteries with a permanent marker which is really useful and use them in rotation.
It’s always best to store at 50 %, probably 3.8V, charge. I wish I’d been more disciplined with my LiPos.
And always charge in a battery bag!
Cheers
Normal Lithium cells can be damaged by fully charging and storing. They dont like extended periods at maximum charge. Can cause cell swelling and reduced capacity. It’s fine to fully charge them and then go use them in the next 24 hours or so…
This is where the ‘intellegent’ bit comes in with DJI batteries, there’s a little microprocessor built in to each battery to look after charging and battery health.
If you fully charge a DJI battery and then store it it will self discharge over a few days to 60% and then go into a long term storage mode.
So all’s good !
Personally if I am putting a drone away and not using it for a bit I just charge it to 3 lights and then store. Makes the batteries life a bit easier.
It’s a little different for unmanaged non DJI batteries.
