I’m new to flying, but I notice this is more aimed at drones, I’m getting into flying aeroplanes.
Now where to start, I have flyer id & operator id, plus now a payed member of fpv uk, so I’m opened up for insurance & artical 16?
Now I’m unsure what next?
I live on the outskirts of a major city that has a complete ban on any flying, but I’m outside that area in a village countryside, surrounded by farming/grazing fields, there’s also a very large park right near me that has 2/3 community football pitches along with tennis & basketball areas.
Can I fly on this area? I’m guessing I can, as in my eyes it comes under “recreational”
Also all the farming/grazing fields have public walking paths, the locals call them bridle ways.
Can I fly on these areas also?
Plus finally I’m currently in the process of joining a aeroplane flying club, but it’s a 35min drive away, that will be good for when I want to go out for the day & chat with other like minded model flyers.but was hoping when I just want to grab a couple of batteries & a plane to pop out locally for a 15 min flying session I could via the two options above.
Thanks to anyone who can advise me further, & I do appreciate that my new hobby isn’t about drones, but planes instead.
I used to fly a Multiplex Easystar (which was cloned by Hobbyking and called a Bixler).
That has a bit of diherdral, a pusher motor on the dorsal (meaning you don’t snap propellers on crashing, or cut your finger launching it). It’s super easy to fly.
It also has lots of room for FPV equipment onboard, should you wish to fly it FPV. (Somewhere I have the photos of where to install all the gubbins).
I had two flying sites. One was the local cricket club. They were happy for me to fly there, so long as I joined as a social member (so that I was on their mailing list and was kept up to date of any events to avoid, or areas of the pitch to avoid, etc). The other was a local farmer’s field. He was very happy that my flying scared away the birds, eating his seed.
