A long-standing FPV UK member with around 15 years of multirotor flying experience, including two years commercially, Gavin brings a strong mix of practical flying experience and professional qualifications. He holds the CAA GVC, A2 CofC and a PDRA-01 Operational Authorisation, alongside Level 4 qualifications in UAV surveying and thermography.
Gavin’s experience began with building and flying DJI S600 hexacopters equipped with Zenmuse gimbals, before progressing to the Inspire 1 and, more recently, the DJI Matrice 4T. His current fleet includes the DJI Mini 4 Pro, Mavic 4 Pro and Mavic 3.
He runs GB Tech Aerial, specialising in aerial inspections, surveying and photography, with particular interests in inspection work, thermal imaging, mapping and aerial photography.
Safety and good preparation are central to Gavin’s approach to flying, with an emphasis on thorough pre-flight checks, site assessments, airspace awareness and a solid understanding of the regulations. He would particularly enjoy helping other members build their confidence and knowledge, especially those making the step up to larger camera drones.
Based in Egham, Surrey, Gavin can support flyers across Surrey, Berkshire, west London and north Hampshire, with the ability to travel further by arrangement.
