New Member - Roof Surveyor in Kent, South East

New Member here.

I’m just about to launch a new company offering Roof Surveys (predominately by Drone) I’ve had a roofing company for over 10 years now and have decided to concentrate on the survey-only side.

I offer Roof surveys to all aspects of roofs. My customers are homeowners, buyers, sellers, landlords, estate agents, surveyors and anyone with the interest of a roof condition being undertaken.

I’m familiar with the Mini 4/5’s but very new to the DJI M4E which I have just bought to undertake these surveys with.

Looking for introductions to like-minded people across the country to assist in national coverage as and when the need arises.

Socials are all @roofvue - Fb, Ig, Tiktok, Youtube - Looking to launch in August this year.

Kind regards,
Lee

Be aware of the CAA rules relating to flying a camera drone in this way. I am sure you will have done your research, but there are lots of privacy and data protection issues to consider if undertaking such flights in domestic areas.

Good luch with your new business plans! Here’s hoping it proves to be a huge sucess.

Thank you mate! Looking forward to getting to know like-minded individuals/businesses.

Hi Alan,

Thank you mate, yeah - getting everything I possibly can in place before launching in August. Thank you. I’m up for listening to anyone with experience in the drone industry mate as my speciality is roofs! Just booked on to do the A2CoC Exam - please do feel free to recommend any further training/requirements - I’m all ears mate!

Hi Lee
I am in Somerset, Mendip area. Would be interested in getting involved. Trying to pick up some jobs myself but the vast majority of my emails to local companies get no response. Would prefer a polite F-off than being blanked by them

I do not know of the specific details, but I was recently talking to a roofer who told me that he was cautioned by the police for flying too close to the ‘pervert zone’ (his words) when scanning a couple of roofs on a housing estate. He did say that the police had been very friendly about it all and that they had received a number of calls about someone ‘spying’ on them with a drone. When I asked him about if he was ‘C2’, he admitted that he didn’t know anything about needing to register to use a drone, adding that the police never asked him anything about needing to register anyway.

It’s crazy isn’t it, Police being sent out to reports of “spying with a drone” with no knowledge of requirements using a drone

I have Pilot/Operators ID and im just doing the A2CoC Exam, joined a few forums/associations to make sure I’m up to date with everything.

What is it you do mate? Do you use yours for business or pleasure only?

It’s defintly not easy out there mate, drop me a message on IG we’re see what we can do mate. @Roofvue

I would do a polite door knock of adjacent houses. People would seldom have an issue if given a brief explanation in advance. I have done a couple of property pics for mates - non commercial, and observing proper safety distances. Neighbour was really interested and totally ok after a polite chat.

@roofvue Welcome to the Drone Hub community :waving_hand:

As for the regulations,as a roofer I’m sure you’ll soon get everything covered (sorry)

I did reply earlier but failed to hit the send button (email) I guess. I am totally in the ‘for fun’ category, although I do some shots for a couple of charities I am involved with, which often includes photographing churches. While no money every changes hands, I have passed on some church roof and gargoyles piccies to the ‘owners’ when something is obviously looking terminal. I can’t tell a good roof from an onion plantation, so it really has to look bad for me to notice. Could that be an angle you might want to explore?

I currently fly a couple of Phantom 3s (I like the stability of bulk) and a Mini 4 Pro with a bloody big strobe hanging from it as they are so hard to see when you get to 70!
