Hello all.
Just a quick intro.
I’ve wanted to have a go at this hobby for a while and got a really cheap Ares Advantage Ethos HD for a few quid recently.
An older model, but it seems to fly great.
I’m from the Horwich area so I’m hoping to get some nice videos of the Pike, Rivington and surrounding areas over the summer months. Once I learn how to fly straight, and edit videos, then i’ll post a few on here - no pressure then!!

Welcome to the forum, a pretty friendly and helpful crew here.

Hi Steve. Welcome.

I’m from Standish originally. Thought about flying up Rivvy myself - not had the chance yet - but be aware of the SSI exclusions regarding taking off and landing up there. There’s a small central area where it’s ok to TOAL but most of that area is fine to fly over.

Check out the map on this site for a very specific guide mate. Happy flying

Thanks for the input.
I’ve seen the map on ‘thedronemap’ and (correct me if I’m wrong) but I was thinking of mostly flying over the ‘Gardens’ and if I’m correct I can TOAL the West Side of St. George’s Road at top of the Gardens and fly up to the Pike as I will be in visual contact all the way.
Regards, Stephen

Welcome

You’ll know the area better than me no doubt. I remember seeing the TOAL area as being comparatively small compared to the SSSI area. Of course, once you’re up there, the air is the air and you can go above it. Think they just don’t want people setting off from lots of different areas.

Thanks. Sorry for late message, i’ve been away for a little while.
