New Drone Ideas

But thank you so much for your kind response, it’s good to be part of an online community that isn’t trying to sell something to the end user.

@JockN You are welcome :wink::+1:
It’s a shame you cannot use the Goggles 3 for the DJI Air 3S but at the end of the day there will always be alternatives. How are you finding the Air 3S?

When I purchased it the rain was relentless, I then caught the flu (I work in a hospital environment) which has lasted from mid January and am just coming out the other side, I am hoping to get out with it later this afternoon to fly it over some farm land that I have access to, very much a case of watch this space.

Gutted, paired the drone to the charger, charged up the batteries and the controller will not take a charge and I now have to send everything back for replacement. No doubt the wife will find other things for me to do this weekend !!!

Hi all, finally a day of no rain but a bit of fog, I have today carried out my first flight with the drone, I am using the DJI RC 2 which to be fair, I am very impressed with. I am really pleased that I went for the drone package, charging remains longer than expected but well worth the wait, it was, quite literally, fly out the box but to be fair I also downloaded and printed the whole manual, did the licencing work and have prepared for the first flight.
Really pleased and now need to get into the weeds of exactly what the drone is capable of.

The controller finally charged but it took several hours and not as quickly as the manual states. I went down by one notch after flying today and has now been on charge for around 2 hours and is still not fully charged, maybe I am expecting too much.

@JockN I highly recommend getting a quicker USB-C charger as this will reduce the waiting time for your RC2 Controller and batteries being charged this is what i currently use to charger my RC2 Controller and DJI mini 4pro batteries.
Its a Anker Nano ll 65W and is available from Amazon at £16.98 i have two of the these and they are great :+1:

Provided you stay inside the guard rails (ie. Stay away from manual mode) your machine is a fairly simple to fly affair.

With camera drone type quads, the real skill is in being able to seamlessly manipulate the camera controls while simultaneously and equally smoothly feeding motion instructions.

At first though just learning to judge distance and speed via the on board camera will seem enough of a task, and it is, until you’ve trained with it a while. Just like driving, in fact.

The onboard proximity sensors will be advantageous in avoiding some collisions, but they’re not flawless, and it won’t see some things until too late, so being aware of your surroundings is “core flight skill” level important, again just like driving a car.

I can’t be much more help than that though as I hail from the other side of the hobby -flying custom FPV freestyle/racing type quads- and don’t have any worthwhile practical experience with DJI equipment.

Be safe, and happy flying! :yellow_heart:
