Hi all
I have published a YouTube video where I talk through my response, and rationale. You can see that here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WiOkAXaAK7M
Please do reply to the CAA before the 07.09.2023 deadline.

I think that is a superb idea - it removes any possible ambiguity.
Yeah, if you see my response document above you’ll see I suggested:
Very Light (A0) = Sub-250g.
Light (A1) = Legacy sub-500g and sub-900g with Low Batt/Datalink/Flashing light.
Medium (A2) = Legacy sub-2kg and sub-4kg with <3 m/s low speed mode and Low Batt/Datalink/Flashing light.
Heavy (A3) = Sub-25kg. Or, alternatively: Featherweight (A0) = Sub-250g.
Or:
Featherweight (A0) = Sub-250g.
Lightweight (A1) = Legacy sub-500g and sub-900g with Low Batt/Datalink/Flashing light.
Middleweight (A2) = Legacy sub-2kg and sub-4kg with <3 m/s low speed mode and Low Batt/Datalink/Flashing light.
Heavyweight (A3) = Sub-25kg.
Model aircraft should be excluded from these regulations.
When the CAA releases their BVLOS qualification, I think it’d be massively beneficial to allow FPV pilots flying under that cert to fly without a spotter. The UK is one of the very select few countries to require a spotter for FPV flight, and I think that being able to fly spotter-less, even with the hassle of getting certified, would be massively beneficial to a large percentage of the population.
I’d love to see FPV allowed without a spotter even if it meant a lower altitude than 400ft.
Thanks again Simon.
I have submitted my reponse online.
Today is the day everyone!
Don’t forget to get your responses in!
I submitted 2 days ago with much help / reuse from FPVUK response doc. Thx Simon!
